Today we will learn about political and physical features of the Middle East. After completing the warm-up, watch the video, What is History For? to introduce us to the purpose of history. Work-session: People often compare the way historians work to detectives solving a mystery. Take some time to brainstorm the following questions- How are historians similar to detectives solving a mystery? What questions would they need to ask when studying history? How do these questions help us learn more from history? Then, compare the questions you came up with to the questions the historical thinking chart has- how are they similar and different? Closing: Share your answers to the work session and explain how the questions you came up with are similar or different from the questions in the historical thinking chart in the Historical Thinking Reflection under the Discussions tab or in the comments below.
